12-year-old in critical condition after amusement park ride slams her into pavement.

A 12-year-old girl remains in critical condition after plunging 40 feet from a Wisconsin amusement park ride on Friday.

Teagan Marti slammed into the asphalt beneath the "free fall" ride when the safety net that was supposed to catch her failed.

Judy Norys was at the park and was one of the first people to reach Marti after the fall.

"I went to see if somebody got hurt, and I thought maybe somebody broke a bone. And I heard a mom screaming, and there was a little girl lying on the ground. And the mom was saying, 'Please don't let my baby die, please don't let my baby die,' " Norys said.

She performed CPR until EMS arrived, and eventually the injured girl was taken by Med Flight to the University of Wisconsin Hospital.

Marti and her family were visiting from Florida.
