Texas below national average in Census form returns.

Thursday, April 1, 2010 - 9:54am

The government has reported that 50% of the nation's households have returned their census forms.

About 134 million questionnaires were mailed or hand delivered to homes across the country just a few weeks ago and leading the way in returning the forms are five central and upper midwestern states. In Texas, officials say response rates are well below the national average. April 1, 2010 is Census Day and the day you must return your completed forms to be counted in the census. Your response makes a difference in the amount of federal dollars that get distributed in your community. If you haven't received your form, be patient, census forms will still be mailed out until April 12th. If you don't fill out the forms, expect a knock on your door from a census taker who will fill out the form with you at your home.
