Centuries old boat unearthed during Ground Zero excavations.
A centuries-old ship is being removed from the World Trade Center site.
The 18th-century ship was discovered Tuesday when an excavator unearthed curved pieces of wood.
"That area was filled in between the 1790's and 1830's so we know that the ship was sunk down there as part of the landfill around that time," explained archaeologist Elizabeth Meade.
Workers are now carefully digging out 32-foot-long ship hull.
Archaeologists say the hull is extremely fragile.
They aren't sure if any large pieces can be lifted from the ground intact.
