President Obama formally welcomed Chinese President Hu Jintao to the United States this morning.

At the formal White House welcome both presidents outlined their hopes for Mr. Hu's four-day state visit.

"This visit is a time to demonstrate a simple truth: We have an enormous stake in each other's success," President Obama said.

"I have come to the United States to increase mutual trust, enhance friendship, deepen cooperation and push forward for the 21st century," President Hu responded.

Today President Hu meets privately with President Obama.

Later he'll talk to some of America's top CEOs about making it easier to do business.

China's currency will be a major topic of discussion, as will human rights.

President Obama's also expected to urge China to do more to discourage North Korea's provocative behavior.
