A little time spent this weekend looking for late summer travel deals could be time well spent.

A little time spent this weekend looking for late summer travel deals could be time well spent.

A less than stellar vacation season is almost over and the travel industry is grasping by offering bargains.

"Places like Daytona Beach, Florida where we're seeing the average daily hotel rates are 20% lower than they were in June and July," said Orbitz Travel Expert Jeanenne Tornatore.

Rates in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina are 10% lower.

And in Gulf Coast states still suffering from the flood of bad publicity surrounding the oil spill, there are not only discounted rooms, but also hotels offering a "clean beach guarantee."

A full refund if your vacation is disrupted by the spill.

Other late summer vacation bargains can be found at destinations that are headed into their off season like the Rockies or maybe the Caribbean before hurricanes really get active.

"These are the type destinations where we're going to find the really rock bottom deals,” explained Tornatore.
