Police release gory 911 tape from woman who strangled her children to death.
Audio from a chilling 911 made by a woman accused of strangling her two children to death has been released.
In the call, 30-year-old Saiqa Akhter and confesses to killing her two children, ages two and five, because they were autistic.
"I killed them. I killed both of them," Akhter tells the operator.
The mother of two tells the operator she tried to kill the children with bathroom cleaner first, but that didn't work, so she strangled them with the wire.
"What did you use? Did you use a gun? Did you use a knife?" the operator asks.
"No, a wire. I used a wire on their necks," Akhter replies.
The operator pressed on, asking Akhter why she had killed the children.
"They're both not normal, not normal. They're autistic. Both are autistic," she replies.
Later in the tape she repeated that she did not want her kids to be autistic.
"Tell me what you're feeling," the operator says.
"Nothing," Akhter replies.
A relative says Akhter mother had been depressed since moving to a new apartment about a month ago.
She's currently being held in jail without bond on one count of capital murder, with another charge likely to follow.
Akhter could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
One child was buried Wednesday, and the other funeral is scheduled for Thursday.
