UTB/TSC to Ban Tobacco Use on Campus
Bring the books, ditch the cigarettes and dip, when college classes start up at the end of August, UTB/TSC will implement a tobacco ban on campus, Na'Tassia Finley has more.
A total ban of tobacco use on the University of Texas Brownsville-Texas Southmost College campus will go into effect. The initiative comes after several reviewing bodies, from students panels to campus and UT regent administrators decided to tackle the smoking problem.
For the past few years smoking cigarettes inside campus buildings was prohibited, but now the new plan expands that to include all tobacco products, both inside and out. School officials hope the ban of tobacco products on campus will motivate students to quit using these products all together.
While there won't be any fines for using prohibited products on campus, administrators hope students will voluntarily comply.
