Suspect dead after high speed chase.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified Roberto Saldivar of Mission as the driver who died when he crashed the vehicle he was driving in a high speed chase with police. Police were called to a Housing Authority apartment complex in La Joya from a woman reporting Saldivar driving recklessly in the parking lot. As police approached the entrance of the parking lot Saldivar exited and police pursued him.

The chase continue into the City of Penitas with Penitas police taking over the chase and La Joya police assisting. Saldivar exited the highway onto the frontage road tried taking a left turn when he lost control and crashed into the inner pillar under the expressway and died from his injuries.
