Surveillance Cameras Monitoring McAllen Intersections

101 surveillance cameras are now up and running at several intersections in downtown McAllen with the project costing nearly $1 million dollars, but McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez says, these extra set of eyes can potentially solve a criminal case.

No one will be monitoring the cameras and will only be used as surveillance for any crimes that occur in the area. The cameras are specifically positioned to capture license plate numbers from passing vehicles and be able help give police an edge in deterring crime in the area.
