MCALLEN- Students in McAllen are taking technology to the next level. Now when they browse through an school iPad, they can download an application they created themselves. Several students at Alonzo De Leon Middle school who created an app. Each  had to have an explanation, images, video and even a quiz.. All with a little splash of creativity.

The Technology Applications class is part of the TLC-3 initiative launched months ago. Within a few years every student through out McAllen ISD will receive an iPad. Even though every grade hasn't received one yet,
teachers are still trying to keep the world at their fingertips. The initiative also hopes to replace textbooks. Pushing students to understand the importance of technology.

The ISD hopes students will create a thousand applications by the end of the year. Even though the apps aren't available to the public, learning to create one may open doors for these kids when they eventually enter the big world.
