Special Election In San Benito

After a long talk in executive session the San Benito City council deciding to have a special election on whether or not to uphold part of the city charter.
It was back in Janurary where former mayor Joe Hernandez was forced forfiet his seat because he was dequlaint on his taxes.
City council during it's executive meeting discussing two parts 3.02 and 3.06.
In 3.02 its describes eligability to hold an office as a city commsioners and the mayor. In that portion it includes officials must have all taxes paid.
In section 3.06 it describes vacanies and forforutre of office. Its explains that an offical shall forfeit it they lack at anytime during the term any qualification for office prescribed by this charter.
This is what city council decided after going into executive session for almost two hours.
"This is not our role to rule on legality of the charter or provisions we sense that this is an issue San Benito should conclude and resolve themselves. "
A special meeting is set for May 8th.
