Roma Residents See Flood Waters Rising
The water levels of the Rio Grande river in Roma have risen considerably, but have yet to go over the banks, still some areas have been ordered to evacuate, Julio Olivo has more.
Roma police were out blocking off areas close to the Rio Grande river as the water level kept rising, a level that residents haven't seen in a long time. Monica Alaniz came to see how the river was rising and she lives in a lower area in Roma that floods easily and the current levels have her worried.
"It does worry me a lot because I live in a zone that any kind of water, we get flooded, it worries us, it's worrying a lot of people, now I'm going to all the points where I know. Cause I always lived here an I know where the people have their little ranches like at Rancho Nuevo, La Rosita and everything, and those ranches are already... all sorgo, everything is flooded."
County officials ordered a mandatory evacuation of an area in Roma known as De La Cruz and the Roma Community Center has been opened as a shelter for those evacuated in Roma.
