"Ready or not"?

Whether you're preparing for a hurricane or another threatening disaster, officials say making a plan and getting together what your family needs, is crucial to your well being, and believe it or not, easier and less time consuming than most people realize.

The “Ready or Not” Disaster Preparation Center, set up by the Department of State Health Services, offered residents the opportunity to see exactly what they need to get prepared and make a plan.

Officials say the prep plan suggested would likely have a person covered in the event of any type of disaster, be it weather related or a manmade disaster...

Experts at the event say for the most part, people are pretty good about gathering important documents and supplies like water, non perishable food and medical supplies, but their prep efforts lack in another big area...family planning and evacuation routes.

If you missed Monday’s event, the event moves to Harlingen Tuesday, or you can log on to their website at TexasPrepares.Org and set up a full family plan.
