His name is cleared and its business as usual for the Indian Lake Police Department, but for the last year, Chief John Chambers hasn't had it easy.

A legal case, that lasted for a year, with resident Eurlin Atkins, the Cameron County District Attorney's Office dropped the charges against him of official oppression. Atkins filed a report claiming she was handled inappropriately at a town hall meeting in July of 2009 and that Police Chief Chambers dragged her out in handcuffs from the town hall meeting, after she went over the three minute time limit, while addressing council members.

Her claims proved to be untrue and her words told a very different story from what was captured on a video of the meeting exonerating Chief Chambers of any wrong doing. The Police Chief has filed a lawsuit against Atkins claiming slander and the case heads to court next month.
