The City of Brownsville got a visit from Kermit the Frog, but not the one from Sesame Street. The Lockheed WP-3D Orion turboprop aircraft, known as Kermit the Frog, is one of NOAA's hurricane hunter aircraft. Brownsville was the first stop in its one week tour during NOAA's 2010 Gulf Coast Hurricane Awareness Tour. The plane was open for tours by the public to give them a chance to see how the plane and its crew help monitor hurricanes. These type of aircraft fly into the actual eye of the hurricane to get data from the storm to predict any changes in the hurricane.
