Mission police seize bundles of marijuana.

An alert detective, waiting for a signal change at an intersection, spotted a van with suspicious packages in the back and tried to pull over the driver, who then sped off starting a speed chase through Mission streets, Michelle Macias has the story.

Mission police found dozens of bundles of marijuana in the back section of the van after the driver lost control and ran into a school's fence. The chase began at Mile 3 and Conway Avenue by a detective in an unmarked unit who spotted the van and tried to pull over the driver. The driver failed to stop starting the chase and ended at Marcell elementary when the driver ran into the schools fence.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for his injuries, but no students or faculty staff were outside at the time of the crash and maintence personnel began to repair the fence.
