Local offiicals host disaster preparedness summit.

As hurricane season gets closer, local officials are preparing by learning new ways to respond if a hurricane was headed our way. On Tuesday a National Disaster Preparedness Summit focused on hurricane preparation and response was hosted. Directors and emergency coordinators touched on how local governments, first responders and critical care facilities can prepare to effectively meet community needs during a disaster level event.

Emergency operations center representatives from Edinburg, McAllen, Hidalgo county, Starr county and other surrounding communities attended the summit.
