Former cop given a $2 million dollar bond for attempted murder.

A former Valley police officer remains in jail on charges of attempted capital murder and was arraigned and given a $2 million dollar bond. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder in a crime that occurred outside a McAllen Wal-mart store. De Hoyo is suspected of abducting two men and then shooting them and dumping them in a secluded area and did survive the ordeal. De Hoyos was arrested after investigators found a Hidalgo police identification card and a certificate for completing a basic SWAT course in his truck.

De Hoyos was among a group of suspected drug smugglers who were looking for a brother of one of the victims. He was a former police officer for the City of Hidalgo, La Joya and Pharr departments.
