Commissioner Sylvia Handy Pleads Guilty In Federal Court

Commissioner Sylvia Handy pleading guilty to tax evasion in McAllen.

Sylvia Handy entered a guilty plea to one count of tax evasion and another count of conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens.
It was back in April of 2009 where Handy was named in an indictment. According to the indictment Handy and three others were accused of Harboring illegals and creating a fake county employee with tax payer money.

The indictment also accused her of hiring a house keeper and nanny and paying their services with county money.

Charges against her husband and alleged co-conspirator will be dismissed upon her sentencing.

Hidalgo County Precinct 1 commissioner Sylvia Handy will most likely resign from office.
