Children Siging Up for Summer Reading Program

Tuesday, July 6, 2010 - 8:38am

While many children are enjoying a day at the beach, nearly 1,700 children have opted to sign up for the Public Library Summer Reading Program in McAllen.

Librarian Michelle Shelton says the reading program has been extremely successful with children this year.  During their time at the library, children get to enjoy puppet shows, listen to guest readers, enjoy craft time an of course, read books.  Children and teens have until July 16th to register for the summer reading program. To encourage literacy with the Spanish speaking community, the McAllen Public Library is hosting a Domingos Divertidos Spanish Book Fair this Sunday from noon to 6 PM at the McAllen Convention Center.
