Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - 8:17am

The Children's Advocacy Center of Texas launches a program encouraging victims of child abuse to come forward and report the abuse.

It was less than a year ago in Edinburg when Andres Enrique Cantu was convicted of sexually abusing his relatives. He was sent to fifty years in prison. His conviction came after one of the victims wrote a letter to Santa Claus asking for the abuse to stop. This week "the One With Courage" campaign kicked off encouraging victims like the little girl to come forward and talk about the abuse.

"Thousands of Texas children will enter a children advocacy center with courage to talk about the unimaginable because an adult with courage was there."

That was played at at the Cameron County Advocacy Center in San Benito. On hand was Senator Eddie :Lucio Jr, the Cameron County DA and sister Mary Lucy who works at the center. She wants to let victims know there is a place to come and express their feelings.

The campaign kicked off this month and the ad played will be played on television, radio along with internet and print advertising to encourage victims to come forward.
