Cameron County to Receive FEMA Assistance

Help from FEMA is on the way to the Rio Grande Valley as the federal government has declared the area as a disaster after Hurricane Alex caused extensive flooding and property damage, Na'Tassia Finley has more.

The number is growing, and the county is looking to get reimbursed for the money spent preparing, on the continulous clean up efforts being put forth after Hurricane Alex flooded certain areas in Cameron county. Adfter county officals gather damage assessment reports, from the cities making up Cameron county, they'll create one large request asking for reimbursement from the federal government.

The damage ranges across the board from mild to total destruction of about 500 homes. On Monday, FEMA will have Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers driving across the effected areas for residents to request for federal assistance.
