La Feria police say around 11 am a Cameron county inspector vehicle crashed into the 83 Bar and Grill off Business 83.
"Just a loud bang."
Don Lee lives in a trailer behind behind the bar. He walked outside when he heard the noise.
"I've seen all the fire trucks and police come, a little dog was barking and sure enough they were pulling a little pick up truck out of the bar it kind of surprised me."
Police say the Ford Ranger was traveling eastbound on Business 83 when the driver lost control and ran into the bar. Police believe the man had a medical condition causing the accident.
The fire department had to get the man out of the vehicle. The fire department says the man was confused when he got out of his truck.
The owners of the 83 Bar and Grill are currently on vacation and the bar is closed for the summer.
"Fortunately they were closed at this time the day they would be cooking and probably killed somebody."
The driver was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center. The fire department says the man didn't appear to suffer any major injuries. At this time police have not cited the driver for any violations but the investigation is ongoing.
