Cameron County is under a burn ban and will be for the next 14 days.

Residents are being ordered to not burn leaves, grass, brush, or any other material. The county Fire Marshal Service will also not be issuing outdoor burn permits during this time. People caught burning anything outdoors will be charged and could be fined up to $500 dollars. County officials are issuing a 14 day burn ban in response to fire risks caused by a combination of dry conditions and strong winds.
