Award ceremony held for locl 911 dispatchers.

The First Annual Telecommunicators Awards ceremony was held on Tuesday evening to honor 911 dispatchers in Hidalgo and Willacy county. The event, sponsored by the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council, was held at the Pharr Convention Center. The second week of April has been proclaimed Public Safety Telecommunicators Award Week by Governor Rick Perry. There are 19 public safety points, call centers, that include approximately 250 dispatchers. The 911 dispatchers have a very stressful and difficult job and often go unnoticed. The awards ceremony is a way  to show how greatly dispatchers are appreciated.
