Assistant Police Chief Refuses to take Drug Test
Controverey continues to swirl around the San Benito Police Department as the Assistant Police Chief has been placed on administrative leave for refusal of taking a random drug test.
City Attorney Jan Cassidy released a statement saying Assistant Police Chief Arnold Garcia is on paid leave once again after refusing to take a drug test in June. City policy states that employees who refuse a random drug test are subject to termination, however, Police Chief George Gomez only suspended Garcia for three days. Police officers in the department are now wanting both Gomez and Garcia fired for allegedly jeopardized the departments integrity.
City Attorney Jan Cassidy says the city's risk management committee will meet to discuss the matter this week.
