American Consulate issues travel warnings for Mexico.

If you are planning to travel to Monterrey, Mexico the American Consulate is advising travelers not to drive to the region because drug cartels are operating in the area.

The U.S. Consulate in Mexico is issuing a warning, urging Americans not to use the major highways between Reynosa and Monterrey or the highway between Nuevo Laredo and Monterrey. Drug cartels are reportedly setting up bogus checkpoints on the highways which has increased carjacking and other crimes.
