The 1st Annual Wholehearted Scholar Fest

Hosted by South Texas Independent School District (STISD) Education Foundation, the 1st Wholehearted Scholar Fest will be held Sat., Feb.11, at the STISD Mercedes campuses. Proceeds from the event will fund college scholarships and summer enrichment programs for STISD students.

This free event is open to the public and includes fun activities for the whole family. The 5K Run, 2K Walk and 1K Kids' Run kick off the event at 7:30 AM. Booths open at 9 AM. and Zumba-thons start at 11 AM.

There will be food, games, music, crafts, booths hosted by student clubs & parent organizations, informational presentations on the different STISD schools (with the opportunity to earn Advisement credit for those students interested in enrolling at STISD for the 2012-2013 school year), summer enrichment opportunity presentations by college representatives and information on community service opportunities for students.

The event concludes with the Education Foundation's Annual Raffle drawing at 2:30 PM. This year's raffle prizes include: an Apple iPad2 16GB w/WiFi & 3G; a Hewlett Packard 15.5" Laptop; A Gamin' Ride Mobile Video Game Theater Party; a Trek Dual Sport Bike; a 4GB Video MP3 Player (Platinum); a PlayStation 3 160MB System; and a NOOK Color E-Reader. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25.
