Edinburg Little League to join in tribute for 9 year old player killed
The Edinburg Little League (ELL) has decided to wear patches on their uniforms this upcoming season in the memory of 9 year old Christina Taylor Green. The ELL purchased 700 patches with one dollar from every patch going to the Christina Taylor Green Memorial Fund. The patch will be debuted on March 26, 2011 at 6pm during their opening ceremony at Edinburg Baseball Park (Roadrunner Stadium).
Christina was shot and killed Saturday January 8, 2011, along with five other people killed outside a supermarket where a neighbor had taken her to meet Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Her family was an active member in the baseball community and Christina played little league in the Canyon De Oro Little League in Arizona.
Attached is the Patch that Edinburg Little League will be using this year for regular season play for all levels of play. They will be joined by many little league teams across the country and other baseball groups in various levels of play.
