Event Description
April is Autism Awareness Month, and Parents Supporting Parents (PSP), a support group for parents of children with autism and other disabilities, will be participating in several events to raise awareness. There are hundreds of families in the Valley that are affected by autism. PSP is a newly formed group, led by a bilingual speech-language pathologist, that allows these families to get together and discuss new research, treatments, and issues regarding their children. Car washes, food plates, and other fundraising events will be taking place during the month of April. (We hope to have exact dates this coming week.) Funds raised will be used to bring top autism specialists to the Valley for special parent training. April 1st will mark the start of the festivities with a special PSP meeting at Bright Start Children's Rehabilitation Center at 140 Uptown Ave, Brownsville. The meeting will be from 7pm-8pm. This meeting is open to the public. Parents and families of children with pervasive developmental disorder or other forms of autism are especially invited.
