Good morning. I'm Na’Tassia Finley with your News Center 23 update. Today is Monday April 30, 2012.
Hidalgo county sheriff's deputies are looking for 41 year old Jaime Roque. Officials believe h'es tied to a drug related shooting. The victim told deputies he was beaten, tortured and then shot. The victims says the men left him to die,
but he made his way to a nearby house where homeowners took him to the hospital. As of now two other men are already in custody.
The victim is in stable condition. The sheriff says Roque may be driving a black Corvette and is considered armed and dangerous.
A 13 year old Weslaco boy is dead after a jet ski accident on South Padre Island.
South Padre Island police say the teen was on a jet ski with his brother on the Laguna Madre Bay when the jet ski crashed into a 19 foot fishing boat.
The 13 year old died at the scene, an ambulance took his 17 year-old brother to a Brownsville hospital. The boys' father was on another jet ski when the crash happened. Texas Parks and Wildlife is investigating the crash.
A teen is dead after a rollover crash north of Mission.
DPS says 15 year-old Teodoso Dominguez was speeding down Senecio Rd.
and lost control of his vehicle causing it to rollover. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected. DPS says Dominguez did not have his drivers license
The teen was a Jaurez-Lincoln High School student. Counseling will be available to students today.
Investigators are still trying to identify a set of bones discovered near the Brownsville Ship Channel last weekend. Authorities believe the 13 bones that were found by a local fisherman may belong to an immigrant that Mexican Consulate officials reported missing several months ago. Investigators are now trying to obtain dental records for the undocumented immigrant and will ask a Matamoros dentist for help. Authorities believe the bones belong to a missing immigrant who was traveling in a group that lost track of him.
A man trying to steal a car is on the loose after an off-duty police officer sprung into action on Saturday night. Police say an officer working security at the Cinemark movie theater saw a man trying to steal a car.The officer tried to stop the man from stealing the car when the alleged burglar struck the officer with a car door. Backup police officers arrived and chased the suspect who got away.
A McAllen senior has been accepted to the Air Force Academy and now he's counting down the days until graduation. Otto Sunday has been described by his teachers as the all American kid. His teachers say he is one of those rare students they only get every so many years. Otto is the oldest of four children and shares a close bond with his family. He says while he's excited to start the next chapter of his life in Colorado, it's going be hard leaving his family.
In the meantime the family plans to spend as much time as they can together before he reports.
