Anchor

Cyndi is proud to call The Rio Grande Valley home. She has family and friends who live in The Valley and being here reminds her of Hawaii, where she grew up.

Before coming to NBC 23, Cyndi worked in Houston, Fresno and Hawaii as an anchor and reporter. She began her career in Honolulu at the age of 17 working as an intern and was soon promoted to a producer and eventually became a reporter and anchor.

As a reporter in Hawaii, Cyndi was sent to cover stories in China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Japan and Laos. During her journeys, the most meaningful story involved medical mission members helping the needy.

In Hawaii, Cyndi also produced stories for Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition and E Television. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and acted in several television programs that were filmed in Honolulu “playing” a reporter!

Cyndi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Journalism plus, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii.

She truly feels blessed being here because the Rio Grande community reminds her of the Aloha Spirit found in Hawaii. Her multicultural background of Mexican, Spanish and Chinese is enriched by being so close to Mexico and its vibrant heritage.

In her spare time, Cyndi enjoys salsa dancing, working out, traveling, going to cultural events and volunteering at various non-profit organizations.
