$1.5 million in cocaine seized at port of entry
HIDALGO CITY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Custom officers seize $1.5 million worth of cocaine in an alleged smuggling attempt at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge.
On Wednesday, March 20, a male Mexican citizen was referred to a secondary inspection booth by a CBP-OFO officer.
The driver's vehicle, a 2000 Dodge Dakota truck, was inspected with a X-ray system revealing several packages concealed within the truck. Officers found 20 packages weighing nearly 51 pounds of cocaine valued at $1,611,000.
The driver was arrested then released into the custody of Homeland Security for further questioning.
